Flood Bound in WA
Record breaking and catastrophic floods hit western WA once our snow melted. The horse world here was hit hard, with animals of all kinds being evacuated and cut off from food supplies. Fairgrounds housed many horses while private barns took in more. We were fortunate to be on high enough ground that our stalls were dry and we buy in bulk s we had feed, though some our property did flood. The horses were not happy about being back in stalls. Once receeded, the high water is just the beginning of the disaster. The damage left by the flood waters is extensive and expensive for many.
Second Chance Ranch and HorseReunions.com have teamed up in a cooperative effort to establish a flood-relief fund to assist Washington state horse owners affected by the January 2009 floods. At www.flakesale.com - you can click on a donate button and purchase a flake of hay for $5.00. This will feed one horse for one day.
