John Update 11/30/07
We get many requests for updates on John's stroke recovery so it's time for another blog post. He continues to stay home working full time on his health and recovery. He's making progress walking despite the lack of sensation and high tone in his left leg. He is moving over more terrain and for longer walks with his cane. In order to stimulate his left arm and hand, he has started accupuncture. He has had some sensation in his hand and arm during treatments which is encouraging since this is the first time he's had any feeling in the left arm.
We've had one pretty scary set back. Late night November 3rd, I woke up to John having a seizure. Seizures are not uncommon after a stroke but he was also experiencing a lot of stress. We went to the emergency room and they put John on an immediate therapeutic dose of seizure medication. He's had to increase his meds once since then, so he's been very tired and sleepy for most of the month. But, it seems as if he;s acclimated to the dose and its working!
Thanks all for your notes, calls, and special thanks to John's brother Bill for the "joke of the day"which always brings a smile to John's face
